• ●Sunline led the industry in displaying line strength on the label. We believe this is the least a manufacturer can do to be accountable to the consumer in terms of quality assurance. Also, in practical terms, line strength is also the single most important piece of information for product selection.
  • ●Sunline strives to broaden the possibilities of fishing by offering a wide selection of fishing line to support all kinds of fishing techniques for all species of fish.
  • ●Sunline pursues the highest quality in line manufacture, from R&D on chemical and resin processing technologies to quality management techniques.

Soft, supple, and easy to handle, nylon is an all-around material that suits any situation, outperforming fluorocarbon in both straight and knot strength. The flexibility of the material makes it spool easily and snugly onto the reel, and the line stretches just enough to absorb any sudden shocks. Because nylon is more absorbent than other materials, the line should be replaced occasionally to enjoy maximum performance. It is the line of choice for all anglers, from beginner to championship level.

  • ●Sinking speed (specific gravity): 1.14 (some variation depending on the type of nylon)
  • ●Moisture absorption: Yes (diameter and stretch increase with water absorption) ●Flexibility: Soft
  • ●Stretch (amount of stretch at breaking point): Yes (moderate stretch absorbs shock. High initial stretch.)
  • ●Abrasion resistance: Soft surface is vulnerable to scratches and damage. ●Straight strength: Strong
  • ●Knot strength: Approx. 85% of straight strength ●Refractive index: 1.53

While slightly lower in strength compared to nylon, the exceptional abrasion resistance of fluorocarbon makes it all but impervious to damage from wear, making for an incredibly durable line. The low initial stretch allows for good sensitivity, while like nylon, there is just enough stretch to absorb shock. The hardness of the material may take some getting used to.

  • ●Sinking speed (specific gravity): 1.78 (fast sinking speed.)
  • ●Moisture absorption: No ●Flexibility: Hard
  • ●Stretch (amount of stretch at breaking point): Yes (slightly less stretch than nylon. Low initial stretch means better sensitivity.)
  • ●Abrasion resistance: Hard surface is resistant to scratches and damage. ●Straight strength: Strong
  • ●Knot strength: Approx. 70% of straight strength
  • ●Refractive index: 1.42 (nearly invisible in water due to the refractive index being close to that of water (1.33)).
